MORE INFORMATION

Important Before you install this update, make sure that you meet the following requirements:

  • You have Microsoft Project Server 2002 installed.
  • You have Microsoft Windows Installer 2.0 or later installed.

For additional information about the Windows Installer requirement, see the "Windows Installer update requirements" section.

How to download and install the update

To update your installation of Microsoft Project Server 2002 to Microsoft Project Server 2002 SP1, follow these steps:

Note We strongly recommend that you back up your project plan database before you continue to install this update. You cannot roll back or remove this update. Backups of the database should be done before you run the Microsoft Project Server Service Pack 1 SQL update. Additionally, we strongly recommend that you back up your Microsoft SharePoint database if applicable.

  1. In Windows Explorer, create a folder on drive C, and then name the folder kb830240.
  2. Install the Microsoft Project Server Service Pack 1 SQL update to upgrade your project plan database. To do this, follow these steps.

Note The Osql.exe file is also available on the Project Server 2002 CD-ROM in the \support\database folder.
    5. Click Start, and then click Run.
    6. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
    7. Run the Upgdb101.cmd file with the following parameters at the command prompt. To do this, type the following (without typing the greater-than (<) or less-than (>) signs), and then press ENTER:

    8. At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER.
  3. Install Project Server 2002 SP1. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:
