ACT!

Problem:

Case 1 (Standard installation):

When you configure ACT! 4.0, only Microsoft Word versions 7.x through Word 97 are available in Setup. When you activate the Word processor from with in ACT! (for example, mail merge, letter, and so on), you receive the following error message:

Word processor not found on system: Microsoft Word 7.x-Word 97

Case 2 (Upgrade):

When you try to access Word through the Write, Letter, or other feature from within ACT!, you receive the following error message:

Unknown ProductVersionMajor in . . .winword.exe.

Resolution:

An update is available from Symantec to resolve this issue.

Avery Label Wizard 2.0

Problem:

When you install the Avery Label Wizard 2.0 with Word 2000, the following error message appears:

Setup cannot find the program you selected.

Microsoft Word 97

The Avery Wizard may not work until the selected program is correctly installed.

When you click OK, Setup continues and the Avery Label Wizard is installed. However, when you try to run the wizard from the Start menu, the following error message appears:

Cannot run Microsoft Word. Please start Word first, then start the Avery Wizard.

Resolution:

Dragon Systems

Problem:

When you start the Legal Pleading Wizard in Microsoft Word 2000, the following error message may appear:

The project item cannot be copied.

Resolution:

Please contact Dragon Systems and/or WestGroup for an updated add-in designed for Microsoft Word 2000.

Eudora Pro 4.1

Problem:

When you copy text from QUALCOMM Eudora Pro 4.1 and attempt to paste into a Word 2000 document, the text is not pasted.

Workaround:

To work around this problem, paste the text into a Word 2000 document as either Formatted Text (RTF) or Unformatted Text, using the following steps:

  1. After copying text from Eudora Pro 4.1, switch to your Microsoft Word 2000 document.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
  3. In the Paste Special dialog box, click to select either Formatted Text (RTF) or Unformatted Text, and then click OK.

EZ-Photo

Problem:

When you click the EZP toolbar button installed by the EZ-Photo add-in, the following error message appears:

Microsoft Word Err=1220, "Word cannot find or run the application."

Resolution:

The problem is caused by an EZPhoto.dot file that is loaded as a Word add-in upon Word Startup and that writes information to your existing default template, Normal.dot, that is not compatible with Word 2000.

ImageStream 97

Problem:

Microsoft has received reports that if you have installed the ImageStream 97 graphics converters (a third-party set of filters for importing additional formats), Word 2000 may crash after choosing Picture from File from the Insert menu.

Word immediately crashes without any error message (same happens with Excel 2000 and PowerPoint 2000).

Resolution:

Remove the graphics filters.

Naturally Speaking

Problem:

After you install Microsoft Word 2000 and Dragon Naturally Speaking version 3.5, Naturally Speaking displays the following error message:

Unable to initialize the dictation module.

Symantec Fax Starter Edition

Problem:

  • When you click the Font menu in Word, nothing happens.


-or-

  • You may be prompted repeatedly for the recipient's number.

Workaround:

To prevent Word from hanging when you use Symantec, use one of the methods described below:

  • Method 1: Turn off the fax cover sheet option in the Fax Wizard.
  • Method 2: Print with Symantec Fax Starter Edition instead of the Word Fax Wizard.

Voice Xpress

Problem:

When you start Word 2000, the following error message appears:

Compile error in hidden module: modMain

Resolution:

To work around this problem, remove the Voice Xpress add-in files from the Startup folder.

WinFax PRO

Problem:

When you try to send a fax from Microsoft Word using the Fax Wizard, your computer may stop responding, or nothing may happen.
