SYMPTOMS

When you activate Microsoft Word (the Word processor) from within ACT! (in one of several ways; for example, mail merge, letter, macro, and so on), you receive an error message if either of the following cases is true:

  • Case 1: Standard installation: When you try to access Word from within ACT!, you receive the following error message:

    Error: Word processor not found on system: Microsoft Word 7.x-Word 97.

  • Case 2: Upgrade: When you try to access Word through the Write, Letter, or other feature, you receive the following error message:

    Unknown ProductVersionMajor in . . .winword.exe.


CAUSE

Only Microsoft Word versions 7.x through Word 97 are available in the ACT! configuration setup.
