INTRODUCTION

When you install a 2007 Microsoft Office suite on a computer that has an earlier version of Microsoft Office with FrontPage installed, FrontPage is not removed during the installation.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior for 2007 Office system products, remove the earlier version of Office. To do this, you can include this step as part of the installation process by modifying the Config.xml file in Notepad.

How to modify the Config.xml file

For more information about how to modify the Config.xml file, see the "Config.xml file in the 2007 Office system" topic in the 2007 Office Resource Kit. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

To modify the Config.xml file, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the Config.xml file in the 2007 Office system product source. This file is located in the product folder whose name resembles xxxxxx.WW.

    Note In this file name, xxxxxx is the designation for the product. For example, Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 has a folder that is named "ProPlus.WW."
  2. Copy the Config.xml file to the root of the source image so that the file is in the same folder as the Setup.exe file.
  3. Open the file in Notepad.

    Note We recommend that you use Notepad because other text editors may corrupt the file.
