Windows Nashville

Nashville was the codename for a cancelled release of Microsoft Windows scheduled to be released in 1996, between "Chicago" (Windows 95) and "Memphis" (Windows 98, at the time scheduled for release 1997), causing it to be referred to as Windows 96 by the public. The release intended to focus on a tighter integration between Windows and Internet Explorer, in order to better compete with Netscape Navigator.
Known Builds
- Build 4.10.999 is leaked and is widely available.
- Build 4.10.1265 is only known through screenshots by an not fully trusted source.
Cancellation
The operating system building was discontinued due to working on better support for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0.
However, the Internet Explorer integration features of Windows Nashville was later added into Internet Explorer 4 which shipped Windows Desktop Update.
