SYMPTOMS
When you try to open an application in Microsoft SoftGrid, the operation is unsuccessful. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This issue may occur when the script in the .osd file does not return an exit code.
If the SUCCESSRESULT attribute of the SCRIPT element in the .osd file is set, the script must return an exit code. Otherwise, the application will not open, and you will receive the error message that it mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
For example, if the SCRIPT element opens a command prompt, and if you exit the command prompt by clicking the "X" in the upper-right corner, the script does not successfully finish. Therefore, the script does not return the exit code that the SUCCESSRESULT attribute requires.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Open the .osd file by using a text editor such as Notepad.
- Review the exit codes in the SUCCESSRESULT="" and ABORTRESULT="" attributes.
Review the script and exit codes in the <SCRIPTBODY> and </SCRIPTBODY> elements as follows.
<DEPENDENCY> <SCRIPT TIMING="PRE" EVENT="LAUNCH" PROTECT="TRUE" WAIT="TRUE" TIMEOUT="10" SUCCESSRESULT="n" ABORTRESULT="n"> <SCRIPTBODY>review the script and exit codes here</SCRIPTBODY> </SCRIPT> </DEPENDENCY>
- Save and then close the .osd file.
