SYMPTOMS
When you try to perform a Windows Anytime Upgrade in Windows Vista, you may see a Software Licensing Commerce Client (SLCC) dialog box. This dialog box contains an error message that resembles the following:
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the Software Licensing service (Slsvc.exe) is not running during the upgrade process.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, follow these steps:
- Close the SLCC dialog box, and then restart the computer.
- Make sure that Slsvc.exe is running before you start the upgrade process. To do this, follow these steps:
- Use the download link from your purchase confirmation e-mail to start the upgrade process again.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
