Exporting BMP Graphics from Arts and Letters 3.01

Summary:

The following information outlines the steps for exporting a Windows or Presentation Manager (PM) bitmap (.BMP) graphics file from Support Corporation’s Arts and Letters graphics editor version 3.01. Although these steps are likely similar, they may vary from earlier versions of Arts and Letters.

Steps to Export

1. Select the symbols to be included in the exported file or select no symbols to export the entire drawing.

2. From the File menu, choose the Export command.

3. In the Export Files dialog box, enter a name for the file in the Filename field, and choose the TIFF Tag Image Format (.TIF) export option. Arts and Letters subsequently adds a .TIF file extension.

4. In the lower-right corner of the Export Files dialog box, choose the Setup command.

5. In the TIFF Export subdialog box that appears, specify 256 color, uncompressed format, and choose OK twice to save the file.

6. In the Windows File Manager, switch to the Arts and Letters program directory and double-click DECIPHER.EXE, or double-click the Decipher icon from the Windows Program Manager.

   Note: Decipher is a companion multipurpose graphics processing program supplied with Arts and Letters 3.01.

7. From the File menu, choose Open and select the TIFF file created in steps 1 through 5 above.

8. From the File menu, choose Save As, provide a filename, and specify any of the following output file format options:

   PM Bitmap (BMP) PM 24-bit Bitmap (BMP) Windows Bitmap (BMP) Windows 24-bit Bitmap (BMP)

   Word for Windows reads any of the above monochrome, gray scale, or color bitmap formats.
