The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for Windows versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.1a, and 2.0

Summary:

M/H Group’s “Archive-Link” program provides disk-to-disk document conversions between standard Wang OIS or VS system 5.25-inch Archive Disk Format and the following IBM PC based word processing formats:

  • ASCII
  • DisplayWrite DCA
  • Microsoft Word through version 5.5
  • MultiMate through version 4.0
  • OfficeWriter 6.0
  • Professional Write 2.0
  • Wang PC
  • WordPerfect 4.x, 5.0, and 5.1
  • WordStar

Note: Word for MS-DOS format can subsequently be read by the Word for Windows file converter CONV-WRD.DLL, or transported to the Apple Macintosh to be read into Word for the Macintosh.

More Information:

With Archive-Link, documents prepared under any of these word processing packages can be converted to Wang OIS or VS format, or vice versa.

The Wang 5.25-inch archive format is the standard floppy disk storage method for Wang OIS, VS, and Alliance systems running standard WP.

The archive disk drives are found in Wang mini-archiving workstations and Wang PCs attached as archiving workstations. IBM PCs can also act as mini-archiving workstations through WLOC Connections.

Archived documents are accessed directly through standard Wang word procession document filing.

Archive-Link includes a utility that creates formatted Wang archive disks from blank unformatted PC disks. This utility runs on the PC, so users without ready access to formatted Wang archive disks can still convert to Wang.

Archive-Link supports Wang alternate character sets, including World Language.

Microsoft has not tested this product with Word for Windows and therefore cannot guarantee proper functionality.

Support for Archive-Link is the sole responsibility of the M/H Group. For more information, contact:
