- Microsoft Project for Windows, version 1.0

SUMMARY

Microsoft Project will not calculate Resource Cost correctly if the Duration and % Complete field is edited at the same time in the Task Form.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. In the Resource Sheet, create a resource with a standard rate of $10/hour Accrue at Prorated.
  2. In the Gantt Chart, create a task with 40 hours duration.
  3. In the Task Form, choose Resource Cost from the Format menu. Assign the resource to the task. Press ENTER and choose OK. The Cost field will indicate $400.00 ($10/hour x 40 hours).
  4. In the Task Form, change the Duration to 20 hours.
  5. In the Percent Complete field, type 100%. Choose OK. Notice that the Cost is still $400 and the Actual Cost is $400. If you choose Resource Work from the Format menu, the Work and Actual Work fields are only 20 hours.

WORKAROUND

  1. Change the Percent Complete field in the Task Form to 0% and choose OK.
  2. Reedit the Percent Complete field to 100% and choose OK.
