SUMMARY
Microsoft Project will not calculate Resource Cost correctly if the Duration and % Complete field is edited at the same time in the Task Form.
MORE INFORMATION
Steps to Reproduce Behavior
- In the Resource Sheet, create a resource with a standard rate of $10/hour Accrue at Prorated.
- In the Gantt Chart, create a task with 40 hours duration.
- In the Task Form, choose Resource Cost from the Format menu. Assign the resource to the task. Press ENTER and choose OK. The Cost field will indicate $400.00 ($10/hour x 40 hours).
- In the Task Form, change the Duration to 20 hours.
- In the Percent Complete field, type 100%. Choose OK. Notice that the Cost is still $400 and the Actual Cost is $400. If you choose Resource Work from the Format menu, the Work and Actual Work fields are only 20 hours.
WORKAROUND
- Change the Percent Complete field in the Task Form to 0% and choose OK.
- Reedit the Percent Complete field to 100% and choose OK.
