SUMMARY

When the Toshiba T-3100e/40 keyboard is set in the 84 key mode, you cannot anchor the cursor by holding down the SHIFT key and use the ARROW keys to extend the highlight or selected area.

To work around this limitation, change the keyboard type from 84 to 101 by doing the following:

  1. Place the Toshiba Diagnostics/Supplemental disk in drive A.
  2. At the A prompt, type “test3” (without the quotation marks) and press ENTER.
  3. From the displayed menu, choose option 0 (zero).
  4. Change the INTERNAL KEYBOARD TYPE field from 84 to 101.
  5. Press F10.

The computer will exit the program and reboot automatically. By default, the computer keyboard type is in the 84 key mode.
