MS-DOS

SUMMARY

The following are limitations of Microsoft Word version 5.50 with the IBM 3270 PC keyboard:

  1. The last key pressed on the keyboard may be repeated indefinitely in the document window or within a dialog box until another key or the ESC key is pressed.

To prevent this problem from occurring, specify a setting of 0 (slowest speed) in the View Preferences Cursor Control Speed box.

  2. The SPACEBAR cannot be used to toggle a check box on or off from within a dialog box.

To toggle a check box from the keyboard, press the ALT key and the character within the check box option that is displayed in a different color (color display), reverse video (LCD display), or bold (Monochrome display).

  3. Do not attempt to use the JUMP key (located in the left control key area) to switch from Word 5.50 to a 3270 mainframe session while Word is running in a graphics display mode.

Before switching to a 3270 mainframe session, switch to a text display mode by pressing the ALT+F9 key combination, or by choosing a text display mode in the View Preferences Display Mode list box.
