The following article explains how to access the Microsoft Application Forum on CompuServe. The Microsoft Application forum was designed with the following in mind:
- A place where users of Microsoft products can get their questions about Microsoft products answered in a timely manner.
- A place where users can upload files for other users or members to examine (for example, files such as scenery for Flight Simulator, or macros for Microsoft Word.
The forum has the following sections and libraries where users can post their questions and upload their files:

Each section has specific Microsoft products with which it deals. Each section also has specific Microsoft employees called Section Leaders (SLs) that answer questions about specific products. A listing of the SLs may be found in the main MSAPP menu option 5 - ANNOUNCEMENTS from Sysop.

The above menu items used most often are number “2 MESSAGES” and number “3 LIBRARIES (Files)”.
2 MESSAGES
Menu number 2 (MESSAGES) allows for the posting of messages or questions to a Section Leader (SL), forum member, or everyone. There is a 24-hour turnaround time in which the SL has to answer questions posted to him/her. If the question is posted to “ALL” or everyone, anyone that is a member of the forum may answer the question, much like a “round table” discussion.
Each question or thread has a unique five-digit number assigned to it, that is, #63782. This helps members refer to a specific question. To be sure that your question is answered, always direct your question to the SL for that product.
The menu selections for option 2 looks like the following:

3 LIBRARIES
Menu number 3 (LIBRARIES) allows members of the MSAPP forum to leave files for other users or members to examine and download.
The following example menu is available from option 3 (LIBRARIES) of the Flight Simulator section.

Here, you can list the files in the library, upload a new file, or download an existing file.
Files in the libraries are uploaded by the members of the forum. For files such as printer drivers and application notes supplied by Microsoft, type
go mscon
and browse in the Software/Data Library.
