STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word for Windows versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.1a, 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0a-CD, 2.0b, and 2.0c. This problem was corrected in Word version 6.0 for Windows.

WORKAROUND

If you first switch from outline or draft view to galley view (normal view in version 2.0) and then switch to page view, Word for Windows will display the portion of your document where the insertion point is located.
