SUMMARY
To delete cells within a table and then shift the remaining cells up and left to fill in the gap, or “snake” the remaining cells into position, do the following:
- Select the table.
- From the Document menu, choose Table To Text.
- Under Convert To in the Table To Text dialog box, select Paragraphs and click OK.
- Highlight the text to delete (including the paragraph mark).
- From the Edit menu, choose Cut.
- Select the remaining text.
- From the Document menu, choose Insert Table.
- Type in the number of columns, and under Convert From select Paragraphs.

This procedure can also be used to add text. In step 4, add a paragraph instead of removing one.
