Word 5.00: List of Files Not in Alphabetic Order

PSS ID Number: Q50051 Article last modified on 11-02-1994

5.00

MS-DOS

SUMMARY

When using F1 to enumerate files at a prompt that asks for a filename to load, Word can list a maximum of 640 items in alphabetic order. These items can be files, other drives, or other directories.

When there are more than 640 items in this list, Word shows an unsorted list of only the first 640 items. When this happens, the error message:

Insufficient memory

may appear. This message means the number of items has exceeded Word’s file listing limit.
