Accented Characters Don’t Print in PostScript

SUMMARY

Characters with diacritical marks appear as blank spaces when printed in Word versions 3.0x and 4.00 using PostScript commands. The printing of these characters from Word using PostScript commands is not supported. There currently is no workaround for this problem.

For example, if you try to print the word “montr\016al” using the PostScript example on page 283 in the “Reference to Microsoft Word” manual for versions 3.0x, or on page 287 in the “Reference to Microsoft Word” manual for version 4.00 (also in the PostScript glossary shipped with Word 4.00), it prints “montr al”, leaving a blank space for the accented character \016.
