SUMMARY

In Word, when you use the Insert Table command to create a table, only text that appears within the cell boundaries is displayed in page view or galley view. However, if the indents for a paragraph within a table cell are moved outside the cell’s boundaries, text can extend beyond the cell and overlap with the text of adjacent cells when you view your document in print preview or when you print it.

This problem occurs if a table is created from existing text that is formatted with paragraph indents.

To ensure that all text in a table appears within the cell boundaries:

  1. Select the entire table by holding down the OPTION key and double-clicking anywhere in the table (or you can select only the area where text is overlapping).
  2. From the Format menu, choose Paragraph.
  3. In the Left Indent and Right Indent boxes, type 0 (zero). Choose the OK button.
