Simulating Monochrome VGA for Testing PSS ID Number: Q45696 Article last modified on 07-12-1989 PSS database name: PSS

Summary:

With most VGA cards, a monochrome VGA system can be easily simulated by doing the following:

  1. Turn on your system with the monitor cable disconnected. The VGA card will fail to detect a color monitor present, and will default to monochrome mode.
  2. Plug the monitor back in, and you will simulate monochrome VGA until you reboot the system.
