SUMMARY
Word Version 5.00 does not allow a macro to have a name with a control code of CTRL+!, CTRL+@, CTRL+#, CTRL+$, CTRL+%, CTRL+^, CTRL+&, or CTRL+*. This is a design change from Word Version 4.00.
If a control code listed above is used to name a macro, Word inserts the key number rather than the symbol. For instance, if you want to name a macro with a control code of CTRL+#, type the keystrokes CTRL+SHIFT+3 to get CTRL+#. Word inserts CTRL+3 instead of CTRL+#.
