Summary:
In HIMEM.SYS Versions 2.04 and 2.05, the internal revision number was incorrectly listed as 2.03. Thus, programs that queried the XMM for the version received an incorrect, older version. Most application programs, however, query for the XMM version, which is 2.00 in all of these releases of HIMEM.SYS. Also, the text string displayed when HIMEM.SYS is installing does show the proper version number. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in HIMEM.SYS Versions 2.04 and 2.05. This problem was corrected in Version 2.06.
In the HIMEM.SYS source file .ASM, included with the XMS Version 2.00 distribution disk, the equate “HimemVersion” that stores this version number was improperly defined. In HIMEM.SYS Version 2.06, this equate has been properly defined. The text defined in “SignOnMsg” has been properly updated for each release of HIMEM.SYS.
