Summary: The IBM EGA and VGA graphics adapters support a 43-line display. If the prompt is past line 25, the Microsoft COBOL Version 3.0 Compiler will only return to line 25 when a compile job is finished. Any previous information located on line 25 will consequently be overwritten and difficult to read. At this point, it is best to issue a CLS command in MS-DOS to clear the screen and avoid overwriting more lines (if any) after line 25. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Version 3.0. This problem is corrected by Version 3.0a of the Microsoft COBOL Compiler. This was not a problem with earlier versions of the Microsoft COBOL Compiler.
