Selected Text in Footnote Cannot Be Spell Checked

SUMMARY
Attempting to spell check selected text in a footnote causes the error message “Not a valid action for footnotes” to appear. To spell check text in a footnote, the footnoted entry in the text (including the footnote reference mark) must be selected when executing the Library Spell command. Spell checking an entire document covers footnote text as well.
This problem has been corrected in Word version 5.00.
This has also been corrected in Word version 5.50.
