Free Disk Space Needed by REBUILD.EXE in COBOL Version 3.0

PSS ID Number: Q35433 Article last modified on 04-21-1993

3.00 | 3.00 MS-DOS | OS/2

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft COBOL for MS-DOS and OS/2, version 3.0

Summary: Since REBUILD requires the output file to be a new file instead of the input file when doing a reorganization, there must be enough free disk space for a copy of the data file to be written. For example, to rebuild a 10-megabyte data file, at least 10 megabytes of free disk space must be available on the hard disk.
