SYMPTOMS

When you compose a new message in Microsoft Outlook, the message text does not wrap according to the page margins that you set. This behavior occurs when you use Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor in Outlook.

Note The e-mail editor in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 is always Microsoft Office Word 2007.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the Wrap to Window option is enabled in Word.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, disable the Wrap to Window option. To do this, follow these steps, as appropriate for the version of Outlook that you are running.

Outlook 2007

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Mail Message.
  3. Click the Microsoft Office Button[GRAPHIC: Microsoft Office Button ], click Editor Options, and then click Advanced.
  4. Under Display e-mail content, click to clear the Show text wrapped within the document window check box.
  5. Click OK.

Microsoft Outlook 2002

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Mail Message.
  3. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the View tab.
  4. Under Outline and Normal Options, click to clear the Wrap to Window check box.
  5. Click OK.
