BUG: Advertising an MSI Package May Cause the Domain Controller to Reboot

  • Microsoft Windows Installer, versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2





SYMPTOMS

If you advertise (Assign or Publish) a Windows Installer package that has the REBOOT property set to Force, the Domain Controller reboots when the package is advertised.



RESOLUTION

Remove the REBOOT property from the Property table in your Windows Installer package.



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
