SUMMARY

In Windows 2000 Server, administrators can enable or disable Terminal Services by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel.

MORE INFORMATION

Terminal Server components are installed when you install or upgrade to Windows 2000 Server, and "Terminal Server" is added to the following key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentContolSet\Control\ProductOptions\ProductSuite

The data value of the following value in the registry determines whether Terminal Services are enabled (1) or disabled (0):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentContolSet\Control\Terminal Server\TSEnabled

This data value is toggled when an administrator enables or disables Terminal Services by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel. Changing this value requires restarting the server before the change takes effect.

If Terminal Services are specifically selected during Setup, or if the computer being upgraded is a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server, Terminal Services are enabled initially by default.
