SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98 Service Release 1 (SR-1), when you open a project that was saved in the database format, you may receive the following error message:
Windows 95/98
When you click Details, you receive an error message similar to the following
Windows NT
CAUSE
This problem may occur when all of the following conditions occur:
- You open a project that was saved in a database format.
- The project database was edited outside of Microsoft Project. For example, in Microsoft Access.
- The External_Edit_Flag field in the Project_Information table of the database is not set to True (for Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server) or 1 (for Oracle Server) after editing the project database.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, edit the database and change the External_Edit_Flag field in the Project_Information table. Change the value to True for Access and SQL Server databases or 1 for Oracle Server databases.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
