SYMPTOMS

When you print or print preview a report, Microsoft Project 98 may stop responding and you receive either of the following errors.

Windows 95

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the Problem persists, contact the program vendor.

When you click Details, you receive the following error message:

WINPROJ caused and invalid page fault in module WINPROJ.EXE at <address>.

Windows NT

An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.

Exception: access violation (number), Address: <address>

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you print or print preview a report and the following conditions are true:

  • The project contains an inserted project.


  • The tasks in the inserted project are expanded.


  • The inserted project has an object attached to one of its tasks.


RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, install Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, ServiceRelease 1 (SR-1).
