SUMMARY
This article describes how to change the Channel bar contents for a different country/region and language after you have installed Internet Explorer.
NOTE: The information in this article applies only if you have installed Internet Explorer from the Internet Explorer CD-ROM.
MORE INFORMATION
During the installation of Internet Explorer, Active Setup prompts you to select a country/region and language. The Channel bar displays links to various companies and publishers based on the country/region and language you select.
To Change the Channel Bar Contents for a Different country/region
To change the channel bar contents for a different country/region, follow these steps:
- Insert the Internet Explorer CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then close the Welcome screen if it appears.
- Click Start, point to Programs, and then click MS-DOS Prompt (in Windows 95) or Command Prompt (in Windows NT).
- At the command prompt, type the following commands, pressing ENTER after each command
cd\
md ietemp
extract /e /l <drive>:\ietemp <CD-ROM>:<path>\<language>.cabwhere <drive> is the hard disk on which the Ietemp folder is located, <CD-ROM> is the drive letter assigned to the CD-ROM drive, <language>.cab is the appropriate cabinet file from the list below, and <path> is one of the following paths:
- Internet Explorer Plus 4.0 CD-ROM: Win95\Eng\Packages
- Internet Explorer 4.0 Commemorative CD-ROM: En\Ie40 - Type "exit", and then press ENTER.
- Click Start, point to Programs, click Windows Explorer, and then double-click the Ietemp folder.
- Right-click the <language>.inf file, and then click Install, where <language> is the country/region and language you selected in step 3.
- Close the Ietemp folder, click Start, click Shut Down, click Restart (or Restart The Computer), and then click Yes or OK.
- Delete the Ietemp folder you created in step 3. For information about how to delete a folder, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type "deleting", click Files Or Folders, click Display, and then click Display.
