SYMPTOMS

When you share a folder on the Favorites menu in Internet Explorer by right-clicking the folder on the Favorites menu, and then clicking Sharing, the folder icon does not change to indicate that the folder is shared.

RESOLUTION

To determine if a folder is shared, follow these steps:

  1. In Internet Explorer, right-click the folder on the Favorites menu.
  2. Click Sharing on the menu that appears. If the Share As option is selected, the folder is shared.
  3. Click Cancel to close the folder's properties.

MORE INFORMATION

Typically, when you share a folder, its icon appears as a hand under a folder.

Windows Explorer correctly shows the Favorites folders as shared. To view the Favorites folders in Windows Explorer, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
  2. Locate the Favorites folders. The default location for these folders is

    c:\Windows\Profiles\<name>\Favorites

where <name> is the name you used to log in to Windows.
