SYMPTOMS
When you copy a formula from one cell to another, the resulting value is a #NULL! error.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
- You copy a formula that contains both a label and a defined name reference. -and-
- The reference to the defined name is located between two label references as in the following example:
=<Label1> <Defined name> <Label2>
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

Microsoft Excel 97 introduces natural language formulas, which is a method you can use to refer to a cell range in a table by using row or column labels as the reference name. Natural language formulas use the intersection feature that is available in earlier versions of Microsoft Excel.
