SYMPTOMS
When you open a Microsoft Project for the Macintosh version 3.0 Workspace (MPW) file, you receive an error message indicating that the file is not a supported file format. If you click OK and open the file, the values in the Duration and Work fields are deleted.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because an incorrect value is written to the Windows registry when you open a Microsoft Project for the Macintosh, version 3.0, MPW file. Either of the following registry keys will be affected by this problem:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\MS Project\Options\ Scheduling\Default Duration Units"
-or-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\MS Project\Options\ Scheduling\Default Work Units
Microsoft Project 98 does not support opening an MPW file from a previous version of Microsoft Project.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Schedule tab.
NOTE: The Duration Is Entered In and the Work Is Entered In boxes are blank.
- Under Scheduling Options, in the Duration Is Entered In and Work Is Entered In boxes, select the values you want.
- Click Set As Default.
- Click OK.
STATUS
