SYMPTOMS
The Sign-In screen for MSN, The Microsoft Network, may periodically appear and prompt you to connect to MSN.
CAUSE
The Startup folder may contain a shortcut to MSNBC News Alert.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:
Method 1
Remove the MSNBC News Alert shortcut from the Startup folder. To do so, follow these steps:
- Right-click the Start button, and then click Open.
- Double-click the Programs folder.
- Double-click the Startup folder.
- Right-click the MSNBC News Alert shortcut, and then click Delete.
Method 2
Close MSNBC News Alert. To do so, use the following steps:
- Right-click the MSNBC icon on the taskbar, and then click Exit.
- Click Yes.
Because this method does not remove the MSNBC News Alert shortcut from the Startup folder, it is only effective until you restart the computer.
