Computer Hangs When You Disconnect from MSN

The information in this article applies to:
- The Microsoft Network versions 1.2, 1.3, 2.0
SYMPTOMS
When you disconnect from MSN, The Microsoft Network, the computer may stop responding (hang).
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if an older version of the Vnbt.386 file is located in the Windows folder.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods:
Method 1
NOTE: Use this method only if you are using a stand-alone computer.
- Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files Or Folders.
- In the Named box, type "vnbt.386" (without quotation marks), and then click Find Now.
- Right-click the Vnbt.386 file in the list of found files, and then click Delete.
- Restart the computer.
Method 2
NOTE: Use this method if your computer is on a network.
