SUMMARY
This article lists the different localized languages in which Microsoft Access and the Microsoft Access Developer's Toolkit (ADT) are available.
MORE INFORMATION
With a few exceptions, all localized versions of Microsoft Access and the ADT can run on an English version of the Windows operating system. However, when the application's language is different than the operating system's language, you may lose some functionality due to differences in character sets (also called code pages) and regional settings. Here are the exceptions and scenarios to watch out for:
- To run a Central European (Czech, Hungarian, and Polish), Russian, Turkish or Greek edition of Microsoft Access on an English operating system, you must use the Pan European version of Windows. The Pan European version is nearly the same as the English version; however, it has additional fonts to support the non-Latin European languages.
- Korean, Chinese, and Japanese versions of Microsoft Access (and the Japanese version of the ADT) can run only on a double-byte Windows operating system because of their character set requirements.
- There are two English versions of Microsoft Access and the ADT: English US and English A/Z/AA. The latter is virtually the same as English US, however it includes a different dictionary and regional settings.
In the list below, the phrase "Yes (Pro)" indicates that Microsoft Access is available only in the Microsoft Office Professional suite; it is not available as a stand-alone package.
