SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Word 6.0 for the Macintosh, paragraph marks may appear black instead of light gray.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you run Word 6.0 for the Macintosh (the 68K version of Word) on a Power Macintosh. To find out which version you are running, click About Microsoft Word on the Apple menu.
If you are using a Power Macintosh, be sure you are using "Microsoft Word Version 6.0 for the Power Macintosh," not "Microsoft Word Version 6.0 for the Macintosh."
NOTE: This behavior occurs only when you run 68K Word on a Power Macintosh; it does not occur when you run 68K Word on a 68020, 68030, or 68040 machine.
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, upgrade to Microsoft Word 6.0 for the Power Macintosh.
To obtain the Word 6.0 for the Power Macintosh upgrade, call the Microsoft Order Desk at (800) 360-7561. If you are outside the United States, contact the Microsoft subsidiary for your area. To locate your subsidiary, see the Microsoft World Wide Offices Web page at:
When you order the upgrade, specify whether you have the stand-alone version of Word 6.0 or Microsoft Office 4.2, because the update disks are different for each product.
