PRB: "Internal MS Delta Error 1009-00196" ID: Q110980 The information in this article applies to: Microsoft Delta for Windows, version 1.0 SYMPTOMS Microsoft Delta displays "internal MS Delta error 1009-00196" when checking in a text file. All other Delta functions, except View Local Changes, appear to be functioning. CAUSE Delta executes MVMDIFF.EXE when checking in a text file. When MVMDIFF.EXE attempts to determine the size of the difference file, the network is somehow interfering and a file size of less than zero is reported. Delta reports this as internal error 1009-00196. RESOLUTION The error is avoided by adding files to projects as nontext, and by keeping differences as full copies. As long as differences are created in this manner, MVMDIFF.EXE will not be executed. Another network may be required if disk space is a major concern.
