SYMPTOMS

A client executing a stored procedure may receive the error

Datastream processing out of sync

in some specific circumstances with Microsoft SQL Server.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server version 4.2. This problem was corrected in Microsoft SQL Server version 4.21.

MORE INFORMATION

If a temporary table is created and loaded inside a stored procedure and then updated, this may cause the error by selecting data from the table after the update. This will only occur in rare circumstances.
