The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel for Windows version 5.0
- Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 5.0
- Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, version 7.0
When you link a control to a worksheet cell, and you plan to protect the worksheet, the linked cell must be unlocked for the control to work.
To unlock a cell linked to a control:
- On an unprotected worksheet, select the cell linked to the control. (If the worksheet is protected, choose Protection from the Tools menu, and then choose Unprotect Sheet.)
- From the Format menu, choose Cells.
- Select the Protection tab.
- Clear the Locked check box.
- Choose the OK button.
The cell remains unlocked when you protect the worksheet, and the control linked to the cell works properly.
