SYMPTOMS
When you try to mount a DoubleSpace-compressed removable media disk, you receive the following error message:
If you run ScanDisk, it will likely report no errors.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the DoubleSpace-compressed removable media disk is write protected.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, remove the write protection from the removable media disk.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in MS-DOS DoubleSpace version 6.2. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
