Bottom of Envelope Doesn't Print to HP DeskJet 500C
Bottom of Envelope Doesn't Print to HP DeskJet 500C
Q103035
------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Publisher version 2.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ======== When envelopes created with the Envelope PageWizard in Publisher 2.0 are printed to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 500C using version 3.0 of the DeskJet driver, the bottom portion of the envelope does not print. MORE INFORMATION ================ The Envelope PageWizard is included with Microsoft Publisher 2.0 to assist you with creating envelopes. You can use this PageWizard to create number 10 envelopes (4.5 x 9.5 inches) to be printed to an HP DeskJet 500C; however, all objects on the envelope placed within one inch of the bottom of the envelope will not print. Steps to Reproduce Problem -------------------------- 1. Run or switch to Microsoft Publisher 2.0. 2. From Publisher's Startup dialog box, choose Envelope. 3. Choose the Next button five times to advance through the PageWizard options, accepting the displayed defaults, and stop when you get to the screen that asks "What else would you like to have on your envelope?" NOTE: If Publisher doesn't already know your return name and address, you must enter it. This additional step requires you to press the Next button four more times before you get to the screen that says "What else would you like to have on your envelope?" This means you will press the Next button a total of nine times in this case. 4. Select the following check boxes: - Air Mail - Attn: - Urgent: Reply Requested - Confidential 5. Choose the Next button twice and select No. 10 Envelope (4 1/2 x 9 1/2 in). 6. Choose the Next button once and then choose Create It. 7. From the File menu, choose Print Setup and configure Publisher to print to the HP DeskJet 500C using version 3.0 of the DeskJet driver. 8. Choose Envelope #10 4 1/2 x 9 1/2 from the Paper Size list box in the Print Setup dialog box and choose OK. 9. Feed a number 10 envelope into your DeskJet 500C printer. 10. From the File menu, choose Print. Choose OK. Note that the printed output has cropped the bottom inch of the envelope. Note: This problem does not occur when printing to the HP DeskJet 500C using the HP DeskJet driver that ships with Windows 3.1. However, this workaround does not support color printing. The products included here are manufactured by vendors independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these products' performance or reliability.
