The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you create a document based on the MEMO2 template supplied with Word for Windows, the following error message may occur if the MEMO2.INI file is incorrect: WordBasic Error 62: Input past end of file. CAUSEThis error occurs if the number at the beginning of the MEMO2.INI file is greater than the number of addressees in the file. By contrast, if the number at the beginning of the file is less than the number of addressees in the file, no error occurs, but only the number of addressees specified are available for you to select in your memo. For example, if MEMO2.INI contains four addresses, but the number at the beginning of the file is 2, only two addressees are available for you to add to your memo. RESOLUTIONIf WordBasic Error 62 occurs, do one of the following:
For more information on locating the MEMO2.INI file, query on the following words in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: memo2.ini and how and find MORE INFORMATIONThe MEMO2 template stores addresses in a text file called MEMO2.INI. The first line of the MEMO2.INI file contains a space followed by a number that represents the number of addresses in the file. The actual list of names and addresses begins on the second line. The following is a sample MEMO2.INI file that contains three address entries: 3 Jones, Mary Mary Jones Burgess, John John Burgess Simmons, Greg Greg Simmons Note: In the above example, each address entry is two lines long. In the above example, if you change the 3 to a larger number such as 5, WordBasic Error 62 occurs. If you change number to a smaller number such as 2, only the first two addresses are available in your document based on the MEMO2 template. |
