Summary: The minus symbol in the packed-decimal data format is not correctly converted from a Line Sequential file specified COMP-3 to an Index Sequential or Sequential file. There is a discussion of disk files on Page 295 of the “Microsoft COBOL Reference Manual.” The documentation states that COMP-0 and COMP-3 data items should not be used in Sequential or Line Sequential files. Records in Sequential and Line Sequential files have carriage return and linefeed record delimiters and should contain only ASCII data.
