DELETE Statement Cannot Be Used with Sequential Files

Summary: When you attempt to use the DELETE statement with a Sequential file, a “Syntax Error” is generated. The Version 1.x “Microsoft COBOL Reference Manual,” Pages 242-243, incorrectly lists the DELETE statement with Sequential files. According to ANSI ’74 standard, the DELETE statement cannot be used with Sequential files. This problem was corrected in Version 2.x of the documentation.
