Internet Explorer 9 is the ninth version of the Internet Explorer web browser developed by Microsoft, and was released on March 14, 2011 for the Windows Vista (SP2 with Platform Update), Windows Server 2008 (SP2 with Platform Update), Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems. The first Platform Preview (7745.6019) was released on March 16, 2010.
Minimum system requirements are a 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, and 70-200 MB (depending on the operating system installed) of hard drive space. Internet Explorer 9 is the first version of the browser since Internet Explorer 2 not to be bundled with an operating system.
Windows 8 did not ship with IE 9, but was bundled with Internet Explorer 10 instead.
