When you use the accelerator keys (CTRL+<number [1 to 9>) to apply typestyles to text, the numeric keypad does not work. Only the numbers in the top row of the main keyboard can be used. The numeric keypad can be used to enter numbers as text, but when used in conjunction with the CTRL key, the numeric keypad no longer functions the same way as the number keys.
