SYMPTOMS
When you use the Mchgr.inf file to install a Sony AIT media changer device, the device does not install properly.
CAUSE
This behavior is caused by a mistake in the Mchgr.inf file. In the SonyAitMC_InstServices section, there is an incorrect line break between SonyAit and MC_EventLog_Inst:
[SonyAitMC_Inst.Services]
AddService = snyaitmc, %SPSVCINST_ASSOCSERVICE%, SonyAitMC_Service_Inst, SonyAit
MC_EventLog_Inst
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, remove the incorrect line break in the Mchgr.inf file. The relevant line should read SonyAitMC_EventLog_Inst, with no line break.
Note that modifying this file may break the digital signature for the file, so the device may still not install if your computer's policy is configured to block installation of unsigned drivers.
