Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE or WinPE), was used to take steps before installing Windows and for troubleshooting. The latest release is 10.0.17763.0, built from Windows 10 v1809 code base. It's intended to replace DOS boot disks and can be booted by USB drive, PXE, iPXE, CD-ROM, or hard disk.
