October 1991 pre-release is a build of Windows NT. It was shown at COMDEX '91 and was rushed to completion. This build was not released for the MIPS platform.

Several screenshots of this build were shown by BetaArchive member linuxlove and a pre-installed VHD (for QEMU and VMware) was leaked containing the SDK and Free files of the OS.

In late 2011, the full CD was leaked on BetaArchive.

Bugs and quirks

  • Password authentication doesn't work in this build yet.
  • The user cannot shutdown Windows. You have to shutdown the computer itself.
